Heat + Power = Opportunity

Some 4.5 GW of combined heat and power (CHP) is under development in the U.S., according to ICF International. (See By the Numbers, page 20.) But there remains tremendous potential for additional capacity in 100-MW and smaller CHP systems. In fact, as much as 69 GW of new CHP is feasible at large commercial and institutional sites, and another 56 GW at large industrial sites.
