To meet its current requirements to provide a throughput of around 20 qualified pilots each year to the Finnish Defence Forces' frontline squadrons, the Finnish Air Force (FINAF) has, for more than 40 years, operated the Valmet L-70 Vinka as its basic trainer aircraft. On September 1, 2022, this period of the force's history came to a close, with the retirement of the Vinka.
