AbstractIn solution, the effect of quadrupolar nuclei on the resonances of spin‐% nuclei are confined to relaxation processes and, in favorable cases, to J‐coupling interactions. In the solid state, however, an interesting phenomenon takes place: the appearance of unexpected field‐dependent multiplicities. The application of a perturbation approach to the understanding of these multiplicities is discussed; particular attention is given to the13C,l4N spin
