A new type of frequency tuning for stimulated four‐photon mixing is demonstrated using bending‐induced birefringence in a single‐mode fiber. It is experimentally verified that the frequency shift of the Stokes emission is tuned by approximately 100 cm−1via the bending‐induced birefringence in the spectral region around 1 &mgr;m. This will provide a new application of a birefringent fiber to a optical frequency generator.
