Sometimes it fails spectacularly, with new product introductions that do not achieve traction in the marketplace. Sometimes it fails quietly, with concepts that remain mired in the research labs and never deliver value to the corporation. The conventional wisdom is that this failure is largely inevitable, that innovation is inherently risky.
