Japanese Iron Ore Price of Those Shipped in October-December Quarter to Reach Record High / Price ofCoking Coal Will Also Largely Increase / IntegratedSteel Producers to Continue to See Rise in RawMaterial Costs
It is expected that the quarterly price of iron ore shipped to Japan in the October-December quarter will reach the highest on record. While the spot price of those shipped to China, which serves as a benchmark, is currently witnessing a correction, there is a high probability that the quarterly price will rise due to the effects of the price surge during June to the first half of July. It is predicted that the quarterly price of coking coal (of those shipped in the July-September quarter) will also largely increase, so it seems unavoidable for integrated steel producers to see costs of core raw materials rise for the foreseeable future.
