The US oil and gas rig count climbed four to 799 in the week to April 27, rig data provider Enverus said, but drilling activity slipped slightly across most major oil basins. The number of oil-focused rigs was steady on the week at 626, while the number of rigs chasing mostly gas climbed four to 173. But rig counts were lower across most of the major basins. The Permian (332 rigs), Eagle Ford (64), SCOOP-STACK (43), and Denver-Julesburg (18) each shed a single rig. Among the major oil basins only the Bakken saw an increase, with the rig count climbing three to 39; the highest since the week ended April 8, 2020. Among the major gas basins, Marcellus operators added two rigs for a total 43, and the Haynesville rig count climbed one to 68. Utica basin rig operators idled one rig leaving a total 11 active in the play.
