Whereas the formation of carbon-carbon bonds by nucleophilic addition ot aldehydees and ketones has always been a cornerstone of synthetic organic chemistry, the corresponding reactions with their aza analogs are much less explored, despite the widespread occurrence of the resulting amines in natural products and bioactive compounds.
