She is a nurse; I am a nurse. She has two boys; I have two boys. She makes quilts, and has given them lovingly to friends, family, and colleagues. I wish I knew how to quilt.Our team has been asked to consult because of uncontrolled pain related to ovarian cancer with liver metastases. I listen to her frustration regarding the side effects of various chemotherapy agents, and the stories of so many setbacks since diagnosis. There is anger-she has yet to even fight the cancer. And still, she is faithful, asking for spiritual guidance and strength. She laughs, and cries, and looks forward to her daily visits from her husband and two sons, one of whom is getting married on my son's birthday.
