The fiscal 2021 market for oxygen analyzers increased about ￥200 million over the previous year to reach around ￥7.3 billion.The electronics industry drove the demand,just like last year.Energy Support,who handles zirconia type oxygen gas analyzers,said,"In the past the main need was for management of combustion,but now atmosphere control mainly for semiconductor manufacturing equipment has become the main need."They added that they had been progressing at a good pace in responding to semiconductor-related needs.And,as shown in Energy Support's comments,oxygen meters for combustion control have been broadly used for heat treatment furnaces(atmosphere control),thermal power generation(chimney monitoring),and other applications.However,it is predicted that needs will further dwindle due to increasing enthusiasm for decarbonization in recent years,specifically reduced usage by engine manufacturers caused by the shift to EVs and reduced operation of thermal power generation plants triggered by restarting nuclear power plants along with the introduction of new energy,and with other trends.Yokogawa Electric,which has strength in oxygen analyzers for combustion control,is thought to be also pursuing diversification of its business structure by strengthening products for semiconductor and electronic component manufacturing.
