Crude oil production in the US returned to its post-pandemic peak last week, estimates from the US Energy Information Administration (EIA) show, due to an uptick in Alaskan volumes. The agency's Weekly Petroleum Status Report, published Wednesday, showed that US crude output grew by roughly 100,000 b/d to an average of 12.2 million b/d in the week ended Dec. 2. The EIA rounds its weekly estimates of US crude production as well as output from the lower 48, which includes major shale plays and the US Gulf of Mexico, to the nearest 100,000 b/d, meaning last week's increase may have been quite small.
