Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd, introduced at Consumer Electronics Show (CES 2009) held in Las Vegas, Nevada, last January the 6.5mm thick LCD TV that employs light-emitting diode as a backlight. The new product has apparently surpassed the 7mm thinness barrier for LED TV and is being positioned as part of the company's strategy to boost its high definition TV (HDTV) business this year. The specific Samsung product that carries this feature is the B6000, which comes with built-in tuner and is one of the world's smallest for wall-mount TVs. With significantly improved contrast ratio, the B6000 comes in sizes ranging from 40-to 55-inch and features an energy-saving structure that meets the Energy Star standard 3.0. All of Samsung's LED TVs contribute to the company's eco-friendly vision, consuming 40 percent less power than standard CCFL-backlit LCD TVs.
