"There was freezing fog, it was snowing and we knew the Sea King couldn't be flown in icing conditions. As the aircraft captain, I discussed it with my team and we decided to try. We settled at 50ft, where there was a tittle visibility and, with the winter sea temperature around 4°C, we could be sure there was no icing. Staying low was the only option and we had to use our eyes and the radar to keep a look out for ships. We'd been tasked with a daytime mission from Roskilde to Bornholm.
