NORTHROP GRUMMAN and US-based Boom Supersonic have finalised a collaborative agreement to offer new special mission variants of the latter's Overture family of supersonic aircraft to the US military and its allies. The agreement was announced at FIA on July 19. Designed and built in the US, the Overture is being developed as a supersonic-capable commercial airliner, with the first prototype set to enter production in 2024. Flight testing is projected to start in 2026, before the type begins passenger-carryingoperations in 2029. It hadbeen designed to carry up to 80 passengers.
