There is no doubt that general practice is changing and will continue to change. Many see general practice in crisis and a need for ‘whole scale’ change (Gerada, 2021). But what change? We hear from those who are optimistic about change and those who remain pessimistic, but whatever our hopes and expectations, the wind of change will continue to blow. John Maxwell, author and thinker on leadership, left a quote, one of many, some less profound than others: ‘The pessimist complains about the wind. The optimist expects it to change. The leader adjusts the sails.’
