Pachytychius haematocephalus (Gyllenhal) (Curculionidae) survives in Dorset

Pachytychius haematocephalus (Gyllenhal) is well known from Gosport in Hampshire where it was discovered in 1872 (Moncreaff,1873).It has been recorded there in every decade since the 1970s,and the species has become so associated with Gilkicker Point,south of Gosport,that it has been given the English name of Gilkicker weevil.
