A rapid method is proposed for determining the surface area and volume of erythrocytes represented as biconcave discoids. The method is based on establishing regression relationships between the parameters to be determined and the scattering index. It is shown that using the indices for angles of 6 degrees and 17 degrees makes it possible to determine the surface area of erythrocytes to within about 1 and the volume to within about 2.
