Increasing attention is being focused on the cellular mechanisms involved in the pathophysiology of Peyronie's disease in an attempt to find a pharmacological means of preventing fibrosis. Once this has occurred, most surgeons prefer to use a variant of the Nesbit technique to correct the deformity. In those patients with an erectile deficit, it is important to assess penile haemodynamics, and colour Doppler ultrasonography is most useful for this purpose.
