Origin of the Genome Coding for the Activation of the pI 4 Isozyme of Acid Phosphatase in Germinating Seeds of Various Wheat Species

Acid phosphatase isozymes in ungerminated and germinated seeds of various species of wheat, including a monosomic series of the D genome, were analyzed by gel electrofocusing. The activation of a particular isozyme of pI 4 was observed only in the D-genome bearing species. In particular, the third chromosome of the D-genome seemed to be involved in this activation.
