United Airlines has signed a deal to purchase 15 examples of Boom Supersonic's 'Overture' airliner, with options on a further 35. The agreement became public on June 3, fuelling debate on the return of Concorde-style travel. However, in a separate turn of events, Texas-based developer Aerion Supersonic folded less than a fortnight earlier after failing to raise enough capital to continue developing its planned AS2 supersonic business jet. It had been "hugely challenging... to secure large new capital requirements" to move the AS2 into production, an Aerion statement revealed.
