In this paper, we discuss anonymous authentication scheme where one can verify a privilege of an user without using its identifying information. This theory based idea to enhance user privacy is now being studied in Europe to demonstrate its possibility for actual use, and standardization bodies such as ISO/IEC have started projects to making such technology an international standard. We present technologies that can be categorized in three, namely 1) a group based anonymous authentication, 2) attribute based anonymous authentication, and 3) anonymous authentication using blind signatures. We further discuss notion of revocation in anonymous authentication.
