Read (2020) reported a record of Ptinus sexpunctatus Panzer from west Cumbria. This has prompted me to report that in April 2016 a friend told me he was calling in pest controllers as his house in Macclesfield (near SJ914752) was infested with literally hundreds of small beetles.I gave him a tube so he could send me some and a day or two later I received 35 of them which I identified as Ptinus sexpunctatus. He told me they were accessing his kitchen from the wall cavity through a gap round a pipe.I asked him if he had ever had a bees' nest in the wall cavity and he said that was indeed the case but that was over a year before in 2014.
