Vittadini became the company's CTO in November 2021, and with Rolls-Royce involved in hydrogen and electric technology initiatives, not to mention introducing new Trent and Pearl powerplants, hers is a busy role. During almost 20 years at Airbus, Vittadini held various senior positions. As CTO she led Airbus' initiatives on new technologies, from electrification and hydrogen propulsion to digitalisation and artificial intelligence, autonomy, connectivity and advanced materials. At the time of her appointment, Rolls-Royce CEO Warren East said Vittadini "brings with her extensive expertise in the emerging and disruptive technologies that will help us on our journey to net zero and further expand our digital innovation", adding: "She also has many years of experience working with our fundamental technologies and has a deep understanding of the safety critical systems which are at the core of our product portfolio."
