To the Editor: Bronchobiliary fistula (BBF) is a rare entity consisting of an abnormal communication between the biliary tract and the bronchial tree. It usually presents with expectoration of yellow-green sputum containing bile, known as bilio-ptysis. Hepatic infections, tumors, trauma, and congenital malformations are the most common causes. However, in recent years, BBF is increasingly arising as a complication of extensive surgical procedures and radio-frequency ablation for abdominal pathologies. It is associated with a high mortality and morbidity rate, but unfortunately, there is no clear consensus on the treatment of this disorder. Currently, noninvasive and surgical procedures are implemented with controversial results. We report a case of BBF managed with combined pulmonary and gastrointestinal intervention requiring multiple stent placement and fibrin glue instillation.
