From this month, another stage of the EU Classification Labelling and Packaging of Substances and Mixtures Regulation (CLP) begins. All chemicals produced from June must be packaged with the new red diamond warning signs illustrated on the following pages. For chemical mixtures, which will be the common form in which chemicals arrive at most workplaces, new production runs must also bear the CLP labels, though suppliers are allowed to exhaust existing stocks with the old hazard warnings in orange squares until 2017.
