Lawsonia inermis is a species which belongs to the group genus Lawsonia. Henna is a type of natural dye prepared from this plant. Henna is used in temporary body art resulting in staining of skin from the dyes. After applying, their peak color will hold for few days then begins to fade off within two to three weeks. In ancient Egypt it was used to dye skin, hair and finger nails as well as fabrics including wool, silk and leather. The effect of Lawsonia inermis on nylon fabric was investigated against two common pathogenic bacteria, Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus. Functional groups that are present in Lawsonia inermis extract were analysed through FTIR. UV protection properties of nylon were examined by UPF measurement system and it showed protection against UV B radiation.
