Degradation of dioxins and dibenzofurans in leachate

Leachate of landfill site containes from a several ten to a several hundred pg/l of dioxins and dibenzofurans in average. In order to reduce dioxins and dibenzofurans in leachate to lower level, the experiments were performed by pre-ozonation and ozonation with UV-radiation treatment. In the pre-ozonation treatment, some of soluble metals in leachate are made into insoluble solids and separated from water. Results of the ozonation with UV-radiation treatment show high removal efficiency of dioxins and dibenzofurans without suspended solids formation.
