This book focuses on the'behind the scenes'account of why the accident happened and I found it an intriguing read.The introduction includes a statement made by Bob Semple, Minister of Railways, after the court case had ended and before the Board of Inquiry's findings were released. Semple said, 'Thank God the blame of that bad accident cannot be passed on to the Railways Department, as it was due to the stupid conduct of a man to whom the people had entrusted their lives.' In hindsight this statement is simplistic.
