US POWER TRACKER: Above-normal temperatures drive up SPP prices, demand in May

Southwest Power Pool wholesale power prices climbed an average of 167% year on year in May on higher natural gas prices and increased electricity demand from above-normal temperatures, as forwards continue to trend higher. Power forwards reached to-date package highs in May and continue to trend well above year-ago package levels, following higher gas forwards.
