摘要

The Lee model has been employed to investigate the nitrogen soft x-ray emission from a Mather-type dense plasma focusdevice with an elliptical anode head. The simulations have been performed for various values for the minor radius of theelliptical anode head. These values have been presented as a factor of the anode radius, i.e. 0:1a 1:5a. a is the anoderadius. The simulation results have shown that if the minor radius increases, then the soft x-ray yield increases. Thisincrease was due to increase in the pinch temperature, the pinch column volume and the pinch lifetime. An increase in theother radial phases’ durations has also been seen due to the increase in the minor radius. The chamber inductance in theradial phases has also been increased by increasing the minor radius. The optimum pressures for the soft x-ray emissionwere different for various minor radii.
