Pseudococcus inconstans nom. nov., a replacement name for Pseudococcus variabilis von Ellenrieder Watson, 2016 (Hemiptera: Coccomorpha: Pseudococcidae), and a correction

It has been brought to our attention that the specific name Pseudococcus variabilis von Ellenrieder & Watson, 2016 is preoccupied by Pseudococcus variabilis Hall, 1924, currently considered a junior synonym of Planococcus lindingeri (Bodenheimer, 1924) (Hemiptera: Coccomorpha: Pseudococcidae). Thus, Pseudococcus variabilis von Ellenrieder & Watson, 2016 is invalid under the law of homonymy, representing a primary junior homonym of Pseudococcus variabilis Hall, 1924. In accordance with article 60 of the ICZN (1999), we replace here the rejected junior homonym Pseudococcus variabilis von Ellenrieder & Watson, 2016 with the new replacement name Pseudococcus inconstans von Ellenrieder & Watson, nom. nov., with the same holotype, description and diagnosis given in von Ellenrieder & Watson (2016) for P. variabilis.
