US-educated Almassadam Satkaliyev, who had been at the helm of the fund for the past two years, replaces Bolat Akhulakov, who had been in his position for just 15 months and is now a special advisor to the president. One of Satkaliyev's main achievements was to oversee the privatization late last year of state oil company Kazmunaigas, which sold 3% of its shares to domestic and foreign investors in an initial public offering.
