An Exciting New Era of Support for Woodland Creation in England- a Forestry Commission perspective

Over the past few years, it's become clear that woodland creation has moved up the political, social, and even celebrity agenda.This is welcome news to us at the Forestry Commission. There hasn’t been a more exciting time for trees, woodland and forests since 1919; as our Chair Sir William Worsley wrote to mark the Forestry Commission’s centenary in 2019: “once again, there isan urgent need to plant more trees”. Since then we have worked hard with Defra and other partners to build the most comprehensive support framework for woodland creation that there has ever been in England.
