Instantaneous Plugging of Stretched Elastic Plates

The problem of suddenly punching a circular hole in a stretched elastic plate is of technical importance in fragmentation analysis. In this paper ray methods, extended via Padéapproximants, are employed to study the instantaneous plugging and resulting unloading wave from a circular hole in an axially loaded isotropic elastic plate. Numerical results are presented in graphical form
