Sony Corp. is set to promote its flagship LCD TVs under the HD is Sony's DNA (HDNA) marketing campaign in the U.S. market. The Japanese consumer electronics giant will bolster its product lineup and sales channels in the United States in order to cover a wider range of market strata in 2009.Since last year, the United States has experi-enced rapid economic downturn, which has created a dent on the sales of consumer electronic products. Toshihiro Matsuo, General Manager, TV Marketing, Home Products Division, Sony Electronics Inc. thinks however that because more people are spending more time at home than before due to the tough economic circumstances, this may create a growth niche for specific products used at home, such as TVs.The company revised its business projections in September, but it was able to meet the year-end shopping season as projected. "We were able to achieve greater results (during the year-end sales) despite the market situation. We have also been able to keep inventory at a proper level and business meetings for new products have been going smoothly as well," says Matsuo.
