Much progress in the field of organic molecular electronics will be expected in this century. Recently, new organic devices such as organic electroluminescent devices, organic transistors, organic biosensors, and so on have attracted much attention. In such a situation IEICE Committee on Organic Molecular Electronics decided to hold the 5th International Symposium on Organic Molecular Electronics (ISOME 2008) in order to summarize the recent progress in Organic Molecular Electronics. ISOME 2008 focused on the recent progress in the field of Organic Molecular Electronics.
