Looking at the impact of COVID-19 on cotton production, it would be useful to distinguish between the Northern and the Southern Hemispheres, and between the ongoing and the next season. In the Southern Hemisphere and for this season, planting was doneprior to any major impact of COVID-19 so growth should be nearly finished and harvesting ongoing. Therefore, there will be no impact on the planted acreage, on the production amount, quality or costs. ONLY for harvesting, ginning and finally shipment might there be an impact on the availability of workers and logistic capacities.
