The Remote Consultation Assessment is a summative assessment developed by the RCGP. General practice speciality trainees have been preparing and submitting recordings for this assessment while the COVID-19 pandemic has disrupted the known Clinical Skills Assessment examination. Dr Hana Patel will discuss how trainees can prepare for this assessment, focusing on case selection in the second part of this article. General advice on case selection for the Recorded Consultation Assessment -Recommended case selection The other recommended cases to submit are a minimum of two cases that require either a clinical examination or an explanation of the clinical examination to the patient. This includes psychiatric examinations. The RCGP is aware that most consultations are being carried out remotely. An explanation of what the examination would entail, what would be expected to be found and what this would mean, is also acceptable in the context of the case so that the patient understands this in relation to their symptoms and signs.
