Gazprom’s dependence on the 4.9 trillion m~3 Bovanenkovo field as the mainstay of Russian gas production growth is rising, with little prospect of new fields coming on stream before 2020. The company expects to increase output capacity at Bovanenkovo to 318mn m~3/d (116bn m~3/yr) by winter 2018-19 and 360mn m~3/d by 2020, up from 264mn m~3/d now, Gazprom head of production Vsevolod Cherepanov says. The 2020 target will be achieved following the commissioning in 2019 of a third 30bn m~3/yr gas treatment plant at the field, on the Yamal peninsula.
