Overview of Dryland Agriculture Research and Achievements in Northern Dry Zone of Karnataka

A dry fanning research centre was started at Bijapur in 1933. Later on, a sub centre of All India Coordinated Research Project for Dryland Agriculture was started at Bijapur in 1970. Subsequently the Sub-centre was upgraded as Main centre in 1984. This centre was under University of Agricultural Sciences, Bangalore up to 30th September 1986 and from 01-10-1986 repatriated to University of Agricultural Sciences, Dharwad. Presently, the centre is located at Regional Agricultural Research Station, Vijayapura (earlier Bijapur) in Karnataka.
