Ice restrictions eased at Russian ports

Russia’s Azov Sea ports of Taganrog, Azov and Rostov-on-Don and the Caspian port of Astrakhan ended their icebreaker escort requirements on 16 March. In the White Sea, diesel-electric icebreakers are still escorting vessels to the port of Arkhangelsk, but the minimum requirements will be eased from Ice3 under the Russian Register of Maritime Shipping — 1B under Swedish- Finnish classifications — to Ice2 (1C) from 23 March.
