Micky Tripathi, Ph.D., National Coordinator for Health IT, and Steven Posnack, Deputy National Coordinator for Health IT, on August 5 posted a blog to the website of the Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT (ONC), in which they touted progress being made towards aligning health IT-related activities in support of health IT and interoperability goals, as directed by Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra. Both ONC officials believe that Secretary Becerra's call for incorporating standard health IT requirements language in HHS funding programs, contracts and policies, will help move the healthcare system forward, as well providing ONC assistance to HHS agencies to move forward on standardization.
