By a News Reporter-Staff News Editor at Robotics & Machine Learning DailyNews Daily News – A new study on artificial intelligence is now available. According to news reportingfrom Seattle, Washington, by NewsRx journalists, research stated, “Numerous sensors were introduced tointelligent transportation systems (ITS) in the past decade.”The news reporters obtained a quote from the research from University of Washington: “Consequently,new sensing technologies and the generated data attracted more and more attention, which brought newchallenges, such as redundant sensors, huge maintenance costs, and data explosion, to ITS. To satisfy thecore demands of traffic agencies in a more effective and efficient way, therefore, this paper proposes the ideaof “Sensing as a Service” (SaaS) and implements it in the Cooperative and Comprehensive Smart Edge Nodefor Sensing and OpeRation (COCO SENSOR) system for practical deployments. COCO SENSOR is aninnovative multi-task sensing system, which was developed to address key practical applications, includingreal-time vehicle counting and recognition, road-surface-condition classification, visibility estimation, andlive communication among traffic controllers and road users in a single unit. COCO SENSOR introducedcustomized cooperative sensing and a parallel computation mechanism to increase perception accuracy andefficiency with limited computation resources on the edge device. In collaboration with the WashingtonState Department of Transportation and the City of Bellevue, a field experiment was conducted to testthe system’s performance.”
