US tops up energy grants for Moldova by nearly $300mn

Moldova will receive a $220mn grant from the United States to improve its energy security and to cover the expenses for electricity purchases during the past winter, the government announced. This comes on top of the $80mn already disbursed under the same scheme and another $76.8mn under another energy-related scheme. The government approved the signing of the 15th amendment to the bilateral agreement on US assistance for sustainable economic growth, extended as a means to consolidate the European integration process.
