Uzbekistan makes moves towards competitive electricity, gas markets

The Uzbek government is planning to prepare a new energy development programme to provide for the market liberalisation of gas and electricity prices and the introduction of social consumption standards. First deputy energy minister Azim Akhmedkhadzhayev announce that officials planned to have the programme ready by September. Akhmedkhadzhayev spoke on the sidelines of an energy forum held in Tashkent last week.
