OSapp: An Interesting Tool to Learn Basic Biomechanics of Fracture and Fixation Method

Dear Editor, Orthopedics relies on good internal fixation of fractures in most cases, if not all, to attain sound union, good functional outcome, and early return to preinjury level of activities. While surgical approaches and techniques are learned and mastered over the years to perfection, the fracture union is not a guarantee. A working knowledge of fracture and implant biomechanics is critical to understand key concepts of fracture fixation for betterment of professional skills and patient outcomes. Many a times, it is seen that biomechanical concepts are bypassed to emphasis given in performing more number of cases and fine-tuning surgical skills that in many cases leads to failure of implant or the bone in achieving uneventful union.
