USDA deregulates Norfolk Plant Sciences’ GM tomato

The USDA’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) has deregulated UK plant science business Norfolk Plant Sciences’ (Norwich) genetically modified purple tomatoes. The tomatoes are modified to produce increased levels of endogenous anthocyanins, thereby altering their colour, and contain the NPTII marker gene for antibiotic resistance.
