The US EPA has issued an update on the progress of its registration review exercise involving 726 conventional, biological and antimicrobial pesticides registered in the country before October 2007. The deadline for completing registration reviews of these pesticides is October 1st, with the timeframe being set by a 2007 amendment to the Federal Insecticide, Fungicide and Rodenticide Act (FIFRA). The amendment mandates the Agency to review each registered pesticide every 15 years to determine whether they continue to meet standards of registration by not posing harm to human health or the environment.
