The EU “cannot afford to miss” the opportunities offered by the increasing demand for organic food products worldwide, according to the European Commissioner for Agriculture Janus Wojciechowski. Speaking on 26 July at BIOFACH – the world’s largest organic trade fair - Wojciechowski announced that the EU’s organic market grew by 15% in 2020 compared to the previous year and doubled from 2011 figures. He also reiterated the need for the EU to export more organic food outside its borders as global demand mounts.
