Monsanto to pay $698 m to settle Oregon PCB suit

The US Circuit Court of the State of Oregon has directed Bayer legacy business Monsanto to pay $698 million to the state for alleged environmental damages related to the use of polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs). The amount is intended to compensate the claimed degradation of Oregon’s waterbodies and other natural resources for almost a century and is to be treated as the “full and final settlement” on the matter.
